Central London Home - Home Automation Case Study

Eighty A Controls designed this project on the requests of the client to encompass their design criteria as well as their living habits. This was achieved using the best quality materials, technology and design available to home automation using mainly KNX.

This London client wanted the features, functionality and design of a home automation system but was concerned that this would be too complicated for all users of the London home. Eighty A Controls provided a home automation system using KNX building integration techniques that included, under floor heating, radiators, lighting, ventilation and LED lighting that was simple and intuitive to use. We also included a GIRA Home Server and IP connectivity to the client's iPhone/iPad for local and remote GSM and IP access to his system integrated central London home.

Eighty A Controls used KNX, the world's only open standard for building control to provide the basis for all parts of this central London home automation system.

The KNX controlled halogen and LED lighting was activated by individual push sensor switches which also displayed the room temperature and gave the client building control over the heating in that zone.

Each light circuit and heating zone in this central London automated home was also controlled by a GIRA Home Server application for the iPhone/iPad. Specific times could be set to control the heating in each zone or an overall time clock could control all zones for complete system integration.

Eighty A Controls specified and installed the GIRA stainless steel door communication system in this KNX system controlled central London home which allowed the internal hands-free systems integrated home stations to match the design of the push sensor switches.

Individual login details to the KNX controlled GIRA home server iPhone/iPad application allows for personalised access to predefined areas of the central london property. Home users can log-on with any IP or GSM connection to the home automated central London property.

As with all Eighty A Controls home automation systems, the KNX system can be continuously expanded to include any new features the client may like to add. All additions are easily included by programming which can be done remotely by Eighty A Controls or any other KNX specialist.
